A clear route from RFQ to shipment

How your project moves through MSTFAB

The drawing revision, manufacturing risks, inspection points and packing requirements stay connected from quotation through shipment.

Supply scope: MSTFAB supplies drawing-defined metal parts and empty mechanical enclosure shells. Electrical components, wiring and final equipment certification remain buyer-controlled unless included in a written agreement. Some surface treatments may be coordinated with external finishing partners; confirm the production route and required records in your quotation.

Drawing & RFQ Review

We review the latest 2D drawings and 3D model, revision status, quantity, material, tolerances, visible surfaces, hardware and packing requirements. Missing interfaces are clarified before the quote is finalized.

Material and finish planning

Specify performance, appearance and environment together

Grade, thickness, visible surfaces and exposure conditions affect the fabrication route. Explore the decisions to confirm on the drawing before quotation.

Carbon Steel

For brackets, frames and enclosure panels, define the grade, thickness, flatness and corrosion-protection requirement. Identify any cosmetic faces or coating specifications before purchasing.

Buyer note: If an exact grade, coating standard, color code or certificate is mandatory, include it in the RFQ. Availability and documentation can then be confirmed in the quote.

Quality evidence for overseas buyers

Inspection is planned with the drawing, not left until shipment

Critical dimensions, cosmetic zones, hardware, coating and packaging are different risks. MSTFAB aligns the inspection points and records with your project requirements before production.

Faster, more accurate quotation

Send a complete sheet metal RFQ

A complete drawing package reduces clarification time and helps engineering review the full manufacturing route. The sheet metal quote guide explains which scope gaps commonly create later cost.

DrawingsSTEP, STP, DXF, DWG or PDF with revision level.
MaterialGrade, thickness and any certificate requirement.
QuantityPrototype quantity and expected repeat volume.
TolerancesMark critical dimensions and assembly interfaces.
Surface FinishProcess, color, texture and cosmetic zones.
Inspection & PackingRequired reports, labels, protection and delivery target.

Confirm the manufacturing limits for your drawing

Use the process capability table and material specification table to prepare your inquiry. The quotation confirms feasibility for your material, geometry and production route; a service list alone is not a machine, stock or tolerance guarantee.

Review itemInformation to confirm
Material conditionExact grade and standard, thickness, alloy temper or sheet coating, visible-surface condition and required material documents.
Process and geometryBlank size, bends, weld access, hardware and finish. Confirm the material, thickness and geometry together rather than combining independent maximum values.
Finished-part acceptanceIdentify critical features and the measuring method. State whether dimensions apply before or after forming, welding and finishing; agree first-article evidence when required.
Production responsibilityConfirm the operations included in the quote, any external finishing route, inspection records and packing scope. Electrical wiring and final equipment certification remain outside the mechanical scope.

Frequently asked questions

Buying custom sheet metal parts from MSTFAB

Can MSTFAB quote from both 2D and 3D files?

Yes. Send 3D files for part geometry and 2D drawings for tolerances, finish, hardware, inspection and other controlled requirements. PDF drawings and physical samples can also support the review.

Can I order only one process, such as laser cutting?

Yes. MSTFAB can quote a single operation or combine cutting, bending, welding, hardware insertion, finishing, assembly, inspection and packing as the project requires.

Do you support prototypes and low-volume orders?

Prototype and low-volume projects can be reviewed alongside repeat-production requirements. Quantity, tooling, material availability and finishing needs will determine the most practical route.

How do you protect confidential drawings?

Identify confidentiality requirements when sending the RFQ. MSTFAB can review NDA needs and limit project files to the relevant quotation, engineering and production teams.

What quality documents can be supplied?

First-article, dimensional, material, finish, packing and photo records can be discussed by project. List mandatory documents in the RFQ so their scope is confirmed before quotation.

What determines the cost of sheet metal fabrication?

Material grade and thickness, part geometry, cutting and bending operations, welds, hardware, surface finish, quantity, inspection and packing all affect the quotation. Send the same drawing revision and scope to each supplier, and compare tooling, setup, finishing and delivery costs as well as the unit price. Use our sheet metal quote checklist to prepare a like-for-like RFQ.

What thicknesses and tolerances can MSTFAB manufacture?

There is no single thickness range or tolerance that applies to every material and process. Specify the alloy, thickness, critical dimensions and inspection method on the controlled drawing. Engineering review confirms feasibility for the cutting, bending, welding and finishing route before the quote is accepted; a cutting tolerance should not be assumed for the finished assembly.

How are lead time and minimum order quantity confirmed?

Lead time and minimum order quantity depend on drawing readiness, material availability, tooling, finishing, inspection and order volume. Include the prototype quantity, expected repeat volume, delivery destination and required arrival date in the RFQ. The quotation should confirm the production schedule and shipping scope rather than promise one delivery time for every custom part.

Buyer verification

See the process. Then verify your own order.

A services list tells you what can be quoted; it does not prove how your enclosure will be made. Use the gallery and team page to prepare questions, then agree on current workshop evidence, the production route and drawing-specific inspection records before order release.

Some gallery scenes are illustrative. They are not proof of the machine, worker or facility assigned to your order.
