Buyer Approval Checkpoints

Before production, the finish route needs a plan buyers can approve.

Professional buyers are not only buying color; they are buying repeatable finish control. They need confidence that coating build, masking, cosmetic limits and packing will survive repeat production.

Finish route matched to the drawingMaterial, environment, corrosion target and visible surfaces are reviewed before quoting.
Masking and fit risks identified earlyThreads, PEM hardware, grounding zones, gasket faces and tight-tolerance areas are flagged before finishing.
Samples and inspection criteria alignedRAL color, gloss, texture, coating thickness and acceptable cosmetic marks can be confirmed before batch release.

Buyer Trust Evidence

How MSTFAB makes surface treatment easier to verify before production.

For OEM buyers, a finish is not decoration. It can affect corrosion resistance, grounding, door gaps, threads, labels, visible surfaces and shipment damage. The safest quote is the one that reviews those risks before the parts are painted, plated or anodized.

What buyers can ask us to verify

  • Coating thickness targets for powder coated sheet metal enclosures.
  • Masking plan for PEM hardware, threaded holes, grounding points and gasket surfaces.
  • RAL color, gloss, texture and visual acceptance criteria before batch release.
  • Post-finish fit check for doors, hinges, latches and assembly hardware.
  • Protective export packaging for visible surfaces, anodized panels and finished cabinets.
Reviewed by MSTFAB manufacturing engineering team Surface treatment recommendations are based on material, use environment, assembly risk and buyer inspection requirements, not color preference alone. Pretty coating is nice; a pretty coating that still lets the door close is better.

Surface Treatment FAQ

Questions OEM buyers ask before approving a finish.

Can MSTFAB match a RAL color or buyer sample?

Yes. We can work from a RAL reference, color sample or approved finish panel. For visible OEM parts, we recommend confirming gloss, texture and acceptable cosmetic limits before batch production.

How do you prevent powder coating from blocking threads?

We define masking before coating. Threaded holes, PEM fasteners, grounding points, gasket faces and tight mating surfaces can be protected with plugs, caps or tape depending on the drawing requirement.

Can you measure coating thickness?

Yes. DFT measurement can be provided when required. This is useful for outdoor enclosures, parts with assembly fit risk and projects where coating thickness affects door gaps or hardware installation.

Which finish is better for outdoor sheet metal enclosures?

It depends on substrate, corrosion exposure and appearance requirements. Galvanized steel with powder coating, stainless steel passivation and anodized aluminum are common choices, but the best route should be matched to the actual environment.

What information helps MSTFAB quote faster?

Send 2D drawings, 3D files if available, material grade, surface finish target, color or sample requirement, annual quantity, use environment and any critical surfaces that must stay cosmetic or electrically conductive.

Finishing responsibility

Who finishes your enclosure?

MSTFAB fabricates drawing-defined sheet metal shells and coordinates the specified finish. Selected treatments may be carried out by long-term partners; confirm the route for your order.

A finish photo shows appearance. Your quotation should define process ownership and acceptance checks.
  1. 01

    Shell before finishing

Material, bends, welds, openings and mating features are controlled against your released drawing before the finish is applied.

  2. 02

    Project-specific finish route

Powder coating, anodizing, plating or passivation may involve a long-term partner. Ask who performs the selected process for your part.

  3. 03

    Agreed release evidence

Set the sample, masking zones, inspection readings and surface protection your enclosure needs before batch release.
