Quick answer: For farm machinery metal fabrication destined for Australia, approve both the manufactured part and the shipment handoff. Release the drawings, materials, critical interfaces, finish and inspection scope, then confirm cleanliness, packing materials, part identification and the documents your importer needs before dispatch.
MSTFAB is a China-based fabricator of drawing-defined agricultural guards, covers, brackets, panels, chutes and specified welded assemblies. This is not a claim of Australian manufacturing or a supply offer for complete farm machines. The buyer owns machine design, operating safety and final equipment validation.

1. Identify the actual part and its condition
List the part number, revision, quantity and manufacturing route. Distinguish a newly fabricated replacement part from an old component removed from a machine. If a sample has been used for field fit-up, tell the importer where and how it was used; do not describe its condition from its appearance alone.
For the wider part family, see our agricultural sheet metal parts page. This guide focuses on the handoff between overseas fabrication and Australian receiving teams, rather than repeating a general machinery supplier checklist.
2. Release the interfaces the Australian workshop will assemble
Send matching STEP and PDF revisions with material grade, thickness, hardware and finish. Identify mounting datums, clearance to mating parts, access requirements and critical dimensions. A photograph of the old guard may explain the application, but it does not release the replacement geometry.
For welded parts, agree on the joint requirements and measurement condition. For moving-machine guards, the machine designer must approve the safety-related geometry and intended use. A metalwork inspection does not validate the complete guarding system.

3. Agree on records before the first shipment
| Handoff item | Agree before manufacture | Check before dispatch |
|---|---|---|
| Part identity | Part numbers, revisions and quantity by SKU | Labels, packing list and actual contents match |
| Mechanical fit | Critical datums, mating references and first-article checks | Agreed measurements, trial-fit results and deviation approvals |
| Material and finish | Grade, thickness, coating specification and required records | Specified material documents, appearance and masking checks |
| Shipment preparation | Cleanliness, storage, packing materials and importer instructions | Part condition, protected surfaces and requested packing evidence |
| Receiving responsibility | Importer, broker and receiving contact; required documentation | Document questions resolved before loading |

4. Preserve cleanliness after fabrication
Australia’s Department of Agriculture, Fisheries and Forestry explains that machinery and spare parts must arrive free of biosecurity risk material, and that new equipment can become contaminated during storage or loading. Its cleanliness guidance identifies soil, seeds and plant or animal material as concerns.
For a new metal-parts order, agree on clean storage and loading arrangements and discuss accessible cavities or other areas that could retain contamination. Do not mix cleaned new parts with field-used samples without disclosing their condition. Packing photographs are useful handoff evidence, not an official inspection or clearance guarantee.
The importer should confirm the current conditions for the actual consignment using DAFF’s BICON guidance and system access and the relevant official information. This article is a purchasing checklist, not a determination of a shipment’s import classification.

5. Specify the packing material, not merely “export crate”
A crate may combine plywood panels, solid-timber supports and other materials. Identify the actual materials used in the crate, pallet and dunnage. Ask the importer or broker to confirm the applicable conditions and required declarations or treatment evidence before packing.
DAFF’s timber and bamboo packaging guidance explains that packaging must meet BICON conditions and that solid-timber components in mixed-material packaging also matter. Do not assume a plywood exterior settles the requirements for everything inside it.
Separately, agree on protection for coated faces, thin flanges, loose brackets and hardware bags. Biosecurity preparation and protection from freight damage are different checks; one does not replace the other.

6. Give the receiving team a usable inspection package
Provide the agreed drawing revision, part list, approved deviations and specified inspection results. Label loose parts so the Australian workshop can reconcile them without opening every assembly. Agree in advance whether the first lot needs an incoming fit check before repeat orders are released.
Illustrative example, not a customer case: A shipment contains left- and right-hand guards with similar outlines. They are individually protected, but every label says only “guard.” Add the controlled part number and revision to the packing plan, and map each package to the packing list. Good protection cannot fix an unidentified part.

RFQ inputs for an Australia-bound order
- Models, controlled drawings, part numbers and revisions
- Material, finish, hardware and critical fit requirements
- Quantity, first-article scope and required inspection records
- New or field-used condition of any supplied reference samples
- Packing materials, surface protection and label requirements
- Destination, importer contact and document requirements confirmed by the importer
For the fabrication route itself, review our sheet metal fabrication services. Tolerances, delivery dates, finishing arrangements and supplied records must be confirmed for the actual order.
Scope boundary: MSTFAB supplies mechanical metalwork and agreed assemblies. Tractors, engines, hydraulics, electrical controls, machine safety validation and completed-equipment certification are outside this scope unless separately agreed. Import acceptance is determined by the relevant authorities, not by a supplier’s marketing statement.
Send your drawings and Australia-bound shipment requirements for review.
