Control Station Enclosure Drawing Checklist for Operator Panels

INDUSTRIAL AUTOMATION SHEET METAL

Control stations and operator panels require precise laser-cut switch arrays and robust NEMA 4/12 sealing to protect internal wiring from factory dust, oil, and coolant spray. MSTFAB engineers and manufactures heavy-duty bare metal control station shells customized for your specific industrial HMI and push-button layouts.

Precision Cutouts for Operator Panels

A poorly cut hole will cause industrial switches to spin during operation or fail to seal against liquids. Our laser cutting process guarantees flawless integration for your electrical components.

22mm & 30mm Button Arrays

We use fiber lasers to cut standardized 22.5mm and 30.5mm circular cutouts with ±0.1mm tolerance. This ensures your industrial pushbuttons (like Allen-Bradley or Siemens) fit perfectly snug without binding.

Anti-Rotation Notches

Industrial switches require a tiny alignment notch to prevent the button from twisting when an operator aggressively turns it. We precision-cut these 3mm notches simultaneously, guaranteeing perfect switch orientation.

Flush HMI Screen Bezels

For panels incorporating LCD touchscreens, we cut exact rectangular bezels and weld internal threaded standoffs, allowing the fragile glass screen to sit perfectly flush against the sheet metal.

TIG Welded Enclosure Corners

Wall-mounted operator stations must be completely sealed. We fully TIG weld all seams of the rear enclosure box, grinding the corners completely smooth so no oil or water can seep through micro-cracks.

The DFM Process: Sealing & Mounting

1. Continuous PU FoamingWe utilize CNC robotic arms to pour a continuous, jointless polyurethane (PU) foam gasket directly onto the rear cover flange, achieving NEMA 4/12 protection against industrial coolant jets.
2. Welded Earth StudsTo comply with electrical safety standards, we weld M4 or M5 copper-plated grounding studs to both the front faceplate and the rear enclosure box, allowing your team to bond the entire metal shell.
3. Custom Cable EntriesInstead of forcing you to drill holes on-site, we laser-cut exact conduit knockouts or gland plate cutouts on the bottom or top of the enclosure based on your specific factory routing needs.
4. Wall-Mounting FlangesWe weld external heavy-duty mounting tabs or keyhole slots to the rear of the box, ensuring the control station can be securely bolted to a factory wall or machine frame without piercing the sealed interior.
