EMPTY-SHELL MECHANICAL INTERFACES
A battery storage enclosure RFQ should define the mechanical interfaces that the empty shell must support: rack or tray datums, mounting loads, cable entries, airflow openings, removable panels, doors, base connection, grounding provisions and service access.

Build One Interface Control Package
Equipment mounting
Rack, tray, rail and bracket datums, loads, fasteners and installation access.
Thermal openings
Buyer-selected fan, filter, duct or heat-exchanger cutouts and service clearances.
Cable routing
Gland plates, entry zones, bend space, strain relief and separation requirements.
Cabinet structure
Base, lift, anchor, door, panel, shelf and transport restraint interfaces.

Separate Shell Fabrication From System Performance
The metal enclosure can be manufactured to the buyer’s geometry and mechanical requirements, but it does not independently establish thermal performance, electrical safety, fire performance or an environmental rating. Define who selects components, who validates the assembled system and which evidence the fabricator must provide.

Inspect From Functional Datums
Overall cabinet dimensions are not enough if rack holes, door openings, gland plates and cooling cutouts do not align. Mark critical-to-function characteristics and identify whether they are checked before coating, after coating or during trial assembly. Document approved deviations before the shell becomes the baseline for repeat orders.

Buyer Trust Table
| Supplier statement | Evidence to request | Buyer value |
|---|---|---|
| “Battery cabinet ready” | Controlled empty-shell scope and interface matrix | Prevents missing system responsibilities |
| “Cooling supported” | Selected component drawings, openings and mounting checks | Confirms mechanical fit without claiming thermal validation |
| “Load capable” | Buyer load cases, structural review basis and inspection points | Ties strength to a defined condition |
| “Ready for production” | Approved first article, deviations and revision baseline | Controls the repeat order |

Frequently Asked Questions
Does MSTFAB supply a complete battery energy storage system?
No. MSTFAB supplies drawing-defined empty enclosure shells and mechanical parts, not battery modules, controls or a certified energy storage system.
Can the enclosure supplier choose the cooling system?
The buyer or system engineer should define thermal requirements and select the cooling approach. MSTFAB can fabricate the approved mechanical interfaces.
What should the first article prove?
It should prove the drawing-defined fit, access, hardware, finish and critical interfaces that the buyer needs before repeat production.
